2024 North Island Drive

Kwa’lilas Hotel

About this event

Join Martin and Sheila Jager for a scenic drive from Campbell River to Port Hardy, with interesting stops along the way. The destination is the Kwa'lilas Hotel in Port Hardy, where your rooms and a special, pre-paid, dinner banquet await your Thursday arrival. We have 30 rooms reserved (including one accessible room) for the two-night stay. Participants must book their own room with the hotel - call them at 1-855-949-8525 and use our group ID of PORSCHECLUB24.

The cost is $196 per person which covers four meals (two dinners and two breakfasts) per attendee at the hotel, and includes gratuities and taxes for those meals. Your hotel room cost is extra.

There is a 60 person (30 cars) limit on this event.

On August 22, 2024, we will meet at 10.30am at the Starbucks at Quinsam crossing (124 Brant drive, where CR cars and coffee is held), Shell station right there for gas, Starbucks for road coffees etc and it’s much easier to head out from there to drive up island.

The subsequent drive will take you through scenic woodlands, past roadside lakes, mountain ranges with miles of pavement and possible elk, deer and other wildlife sightings along the way.

For Friday, you'll have many options to choose for your personal adventures. From self-directed exploration including a drive to Port Alice, Port McNeill, catching the ferry to Sointula on Malcolm Island, or riding the ferry to Cormorant Island to visit Alert Bay.

Try Whale Watching out of Telegraph Cove (Sheila and Martin are booked for this!), We have seats reserved for 18 more people if you want to go too, the cost is an additional $196 per person. Please indicate how many people on the registration form.

Maybe spend time exploring sandy beaches in the area, self-directed hikes or a local tour guide can be hired for an informative hike of the beautiful area around Port Hardy. There are many handouts and pamphlets available at the hotel to plan your hikes.

We'll have a dinner back at the Kwa'lilas Hotel that evening at 7pm (included with your MSR registration). We're sure there will be interesting, lively dinner conversations of the group's adventures.

The Thursday night 6pm dinner will be buffet style:

  • Wild Sockeye Salmon
  • Wild Rice with pickled sea asparagus & seaweed pesto seasonal Herb Vegetables
  • Roasted Beet Salad with apples, goat cheese, mixed greens & sunflower seeds
