All About the Speed Rally

About this event

Register now for the All About the Speed Rally created by Guest Rally masters Craig and Linda Davidson. The rally will be held on July 20th and will start and end in Urbana, MD.

This gimmick rally will test your navigation skills as well as your powers of observation. All you and your navigator must do is follow the prescribed route, which is approximately 90 miles, and spot the speed limit signs along the route. You will have to add and subtract these numbers from each other. Other than some clipboards and pens, you don’t need any specialized equipment for this rally.

If you don’t have a navigator, we will pair you up with someone on the day of the event.

Your $30 registration fee for the rally also includes lunch from a.k.a. Friscos, featuring sandwiches and their famous exploded potatoes.

As a bonus, on the day of the rally for $10 cash, you can win the pot by coming closest to the correct total of the speed limit signs.

WHEN and WHERE

  • Assembly Point: The Urbana, MD, address will be sent to confirmed registrants by July 19th   
  • When: July 20th, Sunday, at 8.30 am
  • Driver’s Meeting: 9:00 am
  • Departure: First cars off at 9:30 am
  • Destination:  The Urbana, MD, address will be sent to confirmed registrants by July 19th  
  • Distance: 90 miles
  • ETA: Approximately two hours

PARTICIPATION

By signing up for and joining any of our driving events, registrants acknowledge and assume all the risks in and full responsibility for their participation. PCA waiver forms must be completed and signed by all, online or on paper. Note that planned events are subject to change, for weather-related or other reasons.

REGISTRATION

  • Registration is open now and will close at 1:00 pm on July 16th.
  • PCA members and their guests must be registered and confirmed to join this event.
  • Please sign the SpeedWaiver: https://pcachesapeake.speedwaiver.com/cdstt.
  • Drivers must be adult PCA members with a valid driver’s license.
  • Fee is $30 per participant, $60 maximum per car.
  • Each car must have a driver and navigator. Solo participants will be paired up the day of the event.
  • MotorsportReg charges a $2 booking fee for every registration (not for every person).
  • Route instructions and other documents will be sent to confirmed registrants via e-mail by July 19th.
  • If you have not received the tour documents by 6 PM on July 19th, please email tour@pcachs.org.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO A SPEED LIMIT SIGN RALLY?

Since this is a gimmick rally, no special equipment is needed, just one or two clipboards and some pens. Most importantly, the driver and navigator need a positive attitude, and good powers of observation. Basic math skills will also be helpful.

Past that? A desire to have some fun.
