About this event
We have decided to go back to a previous event, the drive to the Frank Lloyd Wright designed Walter Estate at Cedar Rock State Park just NW of Quasqueton, IA. We will have a guided tour to learn about the history and architectural features of the Estate.
For this Schonesland drive we will be offering two different driving styles, and you will be asked during the registration process to choose one.
Traditional Schonesland Touring – Following all PCA and traffic rules.
Scenic Schonesland Touring – Same as above but at a more leisurely pace.
Event start: (Meet there at 7:45, Driver meeting @ 8:15 AM, depart at 8:30 AM) at the Kwik Star 2030 21st St NW, Altoona, IA 50009
We will drive to Cedar Rapids where will be having lunch at the Black Sheep Social Club (600 1st Street SE Cedar Rapids, IA 52401). After lunch we will continue our tour with a drive to Cedar Rock State Park. There we will attend the Walter Estate. For the drive home you will be on your own.
Due to the longer than normal time frame driving to Cedar Rock State Park, please be at the Kwik Star at 7:45 to sign waivers. The drivers meeting will be at 8:15 with the first group scheduled for an 8:30 departure.
Note: Since there are limitations on the number of participants(34), the tour of the Walter Estate home, will be limited to PCA Schonesland members only and to the first 34 participants. Beyond the first 34 there is no guarantee of access to the tour of the estate.
