2023 Autocross University and Spring Autocross

Location:  Colorado Air and Space Port formerly known as Front Range Airport

Dates:       Saturday April 22 – Autocross University

                  Sunday April 23 –  2023 Spring Autocross

We are excited to offer our 2023 Autocross schedule with five events beginning with our traditional season opening Autocross University followed the next day by our Spring Autocross.  Both of these events are driving events!

We encourage you to register if you are new to the club, new to your Porsche or other favorite four wheel means of transport, want to improve your driving technique or simply want to enjoy your Porsche in a safe environment. but especially if you want to learn how to autocross.

Are you familiar with Autocross?  Autocross is a performance driving experience conducted in a safe environment at relatively low speeds (2nd gear).  You will not hurt your car and more importantly you will not hurt yourself.  Autocross is a lot fun and provides small doses of adrenaline rush that will keep you smiling for days.  At the University you will learn important car control skills. You will gain additional confidence in your driving ability, learn the limits of your car’s braking capabilities, practice correct seating, hand, feet and vision positions, as well as push and perhaps exceed the limits of your tire’s adhesion capability.

By the way, autocross is a huge social event and a great time to meet new club members and visit with friends.

Autocross University on Saturday

Our excellent club instructors will work with you by providing plenty of driving time through three car control exercises.  Learn about car balance through a slalom course, throttle steering around two skid pads, and threshold braking and acceleration in a unique triangle exercise.  All of this in the morning followed by an afternoon of learning how to autocross using these skills on a full scale autocross course.

Spring Autocross on Sunday

On Sunday, we return to the airport to run against the clock!   Are you the quickest air 911, Boxster, Turbo, Macan?  This event is a great chance to try out your new found skills and to compete against the clock.

Details

  • Registration opens March 16 and closes April 18.
  • Both events are also open to licensed 16 and 17 year olds.   RMR Junior Participation forms and instructions can be found under the forms tab on the club’s website.  Please read them carefully.

Charity - Project Angel Heart Cereal Drive

It has been a few years since we last supported Project Angel Heart's Cereal Drive.  Thanks to the generosity of our autocross community we collected the equivalent of 512 boxes between cereal and cash donations in 2018 and we would like to try it again this year and see if we can top that total.  Once again we are teaming with our charity committee to organize a cereal drive on behalf of Project Angel Heart.  Project Angel Heart was founded in 1991 to address major challenges facing Coloradans living with a life-threatening illness—getting the nutrition they need to get stronger and remain independent in their homes. Many are too sick to get to the grocery store, have to choose whether to buy food or medication, or are too weak to make themselves or their dependents a meal.  We encourage you to learn more about Project Angel Heart by visiting projectangelheart.org.

Just $10 buys 5 boxes of cereal and we have this option available on Motorsport.reg and will collect any monetary donation you wish to make at the event.  What would be real cool is to deliver actual boxes of cereal to the charity that we collect at our autocross event.  Please donate standard size boxes of healthy, whole grain cereals like Cheerios, Raisin Bran and Corn Flakes – no sugary stuff.  Ok, maybe a couple of boxes of sugary stuff for family members. It would be awesome to take pictures of a lot of cereal boxes with our shiny Porsches at the event.

I know several of our members have volunteered and supported this charity for years and many more of you may be familiar with the Charity's annual fund raiser – Dining Out for Life.
