The tour ends around noon at a park with picnic tables, located a few minutes from Central City. The event consists of an organized drive via several scenic routes in the foothills including Highway 103 past Echo Lake, and off-road around historic mines between Idaho Springs and Central City.
There will be a brief restroom break at the Safeway in Idaho Springs.
Off-Road Notes:
Be ready to “rough it” as we will be in the wilderness and bathrooms are hard to come by.
The off-road sections are rated as easy so most cars with a careful driver will be fine on the route.
This is a dirt road, but not a 4x4 only road. Please check the below road info before if you are unsure if your vehicle is appropriate for it.
Start on Two Brothers Road, then onto Russell Gulch Rd to Upper Russell Gulch Rd, then Finish off on Nevada Ville Loop/Bald Mtn Rd.
We will have normal bathrooms at the beginning and middle stops at the grocery stores. The picnic area has pit toilets so you may want to bring toilet paper.
THINGS TO KNOW: All wheels and tires are welcome! I would suggest a 4” or more sidewall (the rubber from the rim to the top of the tire) would be ideal.
